Strangest Felony Case in Years Ends in 35 Years in Prison x 2
Imagine having a knock on your door in 2018 and a Sheriff’s Deputy telling you that you no longer own your home because someone deeded it to someone else by forging your signature… Well, that’s what happened to two unfortunate Waller County citizens a few years ago. It turned out to be a nightmare with the title companies refusing to assist law enforcement and the homeowners, and all legal roads pointing to long and expensive litigation both civil and criminal.
Well, fortunately on the 13th of October 2022, a Waller County jury finally put things right and found Aaron Lamar Livingston, age 38 guilty of the two first degree felony offenses of Securing Execution of a Document by Deception and Forgery of a Financial Instrument, in both cases for documents representing more than $300,000.00 in value.
Livingston chose to represent himself aided by an attorney appointed by the court to ensure his rights were protected. After a three day trial a Waller County Jury of 12 men and women in the 506th Judicial District Court with Judge Albert M. McCaig, Jr. presiding found Livingston guilty of both charges. Immediately moving into the sentencing portion of the trial the State presented information regarding LIvingston’s prior criminal convictions and the Judge pronounced sentences of 35 years in prison for each crime.
The Waller County District Attorney’s Office was represented by Mr. Bennett Dodson, Assistant D.A. and the cases were investigated by the Waller County Sheriff’s Office.
“Waller County citizens should feel safe in their homes and feel confident that their most valuable asset both physically, financially and emotionally will be protected. I am thankful that a Waller County jury and judge made clear to the community that our homes will not be toyed with.” Elton R. Mathis, Waller County D.A.
