Jones trial cancelled with plea agreement.
Jurors summoned for jury duty in the 506th Judicial District Court, Judge Gary Chaney presiding were sent home Monday morning with the plea resolution of The State of Texas v. Albert Louis Jones, age 34 of Hempstead, Texas. Jones was indicted for an August 2020 burglary of a building in Hempstead. Due to Jones’ substantial prior criminal history, punishment for a crime that generally only carries a maximum penalty of 2 years in a state jail was enhanced, and Jones received a sentence of 18 years in prison. Thank you to all of the Waller County citizens for showing up to do your duty. Your presence, even when you feel you are not being actively engaged is an integral part of the criminal justice system. We cannot have fair trials for defendants or for the State of Texas without you showing up! The District Attorney’s Office was represented by Sean Whittmore. Have a wonderful rest of your week and stay safe!
