DPS Trooper Victor Gails named as Waller County Peace Officer of the Year.
The Waller County District Attorney’s Office is proud to announce that DPS Trooper and Master Peace Officer Victor Jeffery Gails has been named its 2022 Peace Officer of the Year. Victor is a native of Hempstead, Texas who has devoted over 40 years of his life to serving the people of Texas and Waller County with the Texas Department of Public Safety. Victor is married to Katrina Gails with whom he shares seven children, and he is the grandson of the Honorable James Muse, deceased, the first black Waller County Commissioner and namesake of James Muse Parkway. Needless to say, Victor’s roots in Waller County are some of the deepest, and his dedication to our community was established and flourishing long before the modern term of “community policing” became on trend. Victor has been and continues to be a constant presence in our law enforcement community, and he is a stabilizing force for the rule of law and protection on our local highways and streets. There will be a ceremony later this fall to present Victor with his award. Until then, please congratulate him when you see him out in public and thank him for his service to our community.
